This website is an archive from 2016
This site was actively maintained from 2006 to 2016. Since then I have kept it online for historical interest, but have made no further updates. Much of the information in these pages is now incorrect or obsolete.

The sites listed on this page are specifically about Serbia. Many of the more general sites listed in the Overview of the Balkans are also useful for planning a trip to Serbia.

Visit Serbia
This guide to Serbia invites you to "take a new look at your old neighbour", with information about all regions of the country and news about cultural and other events. There are versions in both English and French.
-
Serbia Travel Club
This excellent site has a huge amount of information for independent travellers in Serbia. They are in the process of translating it into English; at the moment detailed destination information is in Serbian only. It may be worth looking at the destinacije section to get an idea of the places to see in each of Serbia's regions - even if you can't understand a word, you can always look at the fotki.
-
Serbia In Your Pocket
After an absence of several years, Belgrade has made a very welcome return to the In Your Pocket lineup of city guides in 2008. There is a also a guide to Novi Sad.
-
Tourist Organisation of Belgrade (TOB)
This comprehensive tourist guide to Belgrade wisely doesn't overdo the descriptions of the city's architectural beauty, instead dwelling on more nebulous attractions such as "charm" and "spirit". There is also plenty of more practical information. Until recently the TOB asserted that "more than half the city's inhabitants are beautiful, clever, and unpredictable women". Don't believe them? Go and see for yourself.
-
Belgrade Sightseeing
This site advertises personalised guided tours of Belgrade and Serbia. There is a lot of information here, so it is worth a look if you are planning a visit to Belgrade, even if you aren't looking for a guide.
-
Kopaonik
Detailed guide to one of Serbia's mountain resorts.
-
A.C.E. Adventures
Walking and cycling holidays, from two-day breaks near Niš to longer tours in Serbia and Montenegro. The site describes their trips in detail, and is well worth a look if you are considering an active holiday, whether you want to travel independently or with a tour.
Transport and Practicalities
-
ŽS - Serbian Railways
Timetable information (but no fares); international and domestic trains are covered by the same timetable enquiry. The site also has details of the historic Romantika and Sargan Eight trains.
-
Belgrade bus station (BAS)
Timetables for domestic and international buses from Belgrade's main bus station. Note that accented characters must be entered correctly - it's usually easiest to type the first few letters and then choose from a drop-down list. If you enter "Sarajevo" you will get information about the very limited services to the main Sarajevo bus station; services to Srpsko Sarajevo (Lukavica) are listed under "Istočno Sarajevo". See also the Bosnia FAQ.
-
JGSP Novi Sad
Information about public transport in Novi Sad - in Serbian only, but very comprehensive. Includes local (gradski) and suburban (prigradski) buses - the latter may be useful if you want to get to Fruška Gora. You can also check the intercity/international timetable.

Niš-EkspresLASTA is the largest Serbian long distance and international bus operator; Niš-Ekspres has a large network of routes in southern Serbia and beyond.
